SMTL has collaborated with a few reputed Chinese Technology Provider and Designers of plant & equipment for Iron Ore Mining & Beneficiation, Pelletization, Sintering, Coke Oven, Iron making, Steel Making, Casting and Rolling.  These technologies have been well developed and mastered by their Chinese Associates for long.  SMTL has formal Agreements with such world class Technology Providers of China, who have provided their technology and supplied their designed plant & equipment for Iron & Steel Industry within China and outside in many countries including India.  Sourcing technology from China, SMTL offers state of the art Technology with lowest investment cost resulting in improved techno economic viability of projects.

Due to the presence of SMTL in Indian market, over decades, they have a clear and in depth understanding of requirements of Iron & Steel Industry in India & local conditions and hence are able to take care of very specific needs of different Entrepreneurs with varieties of inputs in setting up of their projects successfully.

India is poised for development in Iron & Steel industry with mineral resources of Iron ore, Coal, Limestone, Dolomite, etc.  From a modest 55 mtpa as on date, India has plans to produce about 100 mtpa Steel by 2015 and 150 mtpa by 2020.

India will continue to follow steel making by BF ROUTE as well as DRI ROUTE.

India is the largest producer of DRI with annual capacity of about 22 mtpa.  The steel making process route through DRI, contributes about 35 – 40% of total steel production in India and hence the demand of DRI is bound to grow to the extent of 60 – 70 mtpa in next few years.  To meet future production of DRI it will need about 100 mtpa of Sized Ore / Pellets.  Therefore, the country needs 50 – 60 mtpa beneficiated Iron ore Pellets for which the capacity will have to be generated within next 5 – 7 years.

SMTL offers technology from their Chinese Associates, beneficiation of Low Grade Iron Ore from 52% - 60% Fe content and converting them into Iron ore Pellets.  These pellets can be used in different process routes, such as Blast Furnace, DRI, etc. for production of Iron & Steel.  These pellets command significant value in the market.

Whether conventional Iron & Steel making through Blast Furnace & BOF Converter OR DRI & Electric Furnace, SMTL can offer technology, design & engineering, manufacture & supply of critical plant and equipment on both EP & EPC basis for integrated Iron and Steel plants.  SMTL acts as a Value Addition Partner to the Entrepreneurs and believes in establishing long term relationship.  Sourcing technology from China, SMTL offers, lowest investment cost, which results in better techno economic viability.

Moreover, India has large deposit of Banded Hematite Quartzite ore with lower Fe content of about 35% which can also be exploited by beneficiation and pelletization.  SMTL also has the technology from China for Beneficiation of Banded Hematite Quartzite (BHQ) Ore  and improving the Fe content from 32% - 35% to 64% - 65%.  Preliminary tests have already shown encouraging results.

For Iron & Steel Making, SMTL is in a position to offer Technology Design as well as Plant & Equipment for Coke Oven Battery, Sintering, Blast Furnace, BOF Converter, Continuous Casting Machine and Rolling Mills.   For this purpose, SMTL has entered into an Agreement with the third largest Steel Group of China who have to their credit a large number of plants designed and constructed in China and outside.  Coke Oven Battery from  0.2mtpa up to 2.0 mtpa, Sinter Machine 24m2 up to 660m2, Blast Furnace from 100m3 up to 5,500 m3, BOF Converter from 60 ton up to 160 ton and Rolling Mill for Bar & Rod, Wire Rod, Medium & Heavy Structural and Flat products.

SMTL can offer a complete production line for Ductile Iron Spun Pipe (DISP) Plant through the Agreement with one of the most reputed & largest designer and manufacturer of DISP Plant in China has supplied a large number of DISP Plants in China and India.  It has wide applications in the water supply & sewage disposal systems for which there is a ready market in all developing countries. 

We can also offer Colour Coated Line (CCL) for hot rolled and cold rolled coils since SMTL has entered into an Agreement with one of the largest design and manufacturer of CCL.  They have already designed and supplied CCL to Indian Entrepreneurs, which are operating very successfully.

For cement technology, SMTL has entered into an agreement with the China’s largest Cement Plant designer and manufacturer, offering complete cement plant capacity ranging 1,000 TPD – 15,000 TPD for Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) and Portland Pozzolana (PPC) Cement by utilizing Blast Furnace Slag, Mill Scale and Fly Ash and helping in environmental pollution control.
